Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy & Homotoxicology

What is Herbal Medicine?

Herbal medicine, is the use of plants, in a wide variety of forms, for their therapeutic value. Plants produce and contain a variety of chemical compounds that act upon the body and are used to prevent or treat disease or promote health and well-being.

There are many different forms of herbal medicine. One of the most recognised is Homeopathy.

How does homeotherapy work?

Homeopathy works on the principle of treating ‘like with like’. Homeopathic remedies are diluted natural substances that, if given to a healthy person, would produce the symptoms the medicine is prescribed for. In the assessment of you, the patient, homeopaths will take into account the range of physical, emotional and lifestyle factors in order to prescribe the right medicines.

Many different forms of Homeopathy are practiced today, one being Homotoxicology (Complex Homeopathy).

Homotoxicology (Complex Homeopathy)

Homotoxicology (Complex Homeopathy) contains mixtures of substances, which may vary in strengths. These mixtures when used in combination with dietary and lifestyle advice help to re-establish optimal self-regulation within a person.

Practitioners of Homotoxicology see disease as the result of the body’s attempt to heal itself by ridding itself of toxins which are either created within the body as a result of cellular function or are taken in through the chemicals we are exposed to in our environment.

How does Homotoxicology work?

This method uses a wider approach to target all existing signs and symptoms so that the whole condition is treated not a single symptom. This enables the body to respond to the medication it needs.

Homotoxicological remedies are not only effective against symptoms, they also stimulate the detoxifying functions of the lymphatic system and the connective tissues enabling toxins to be removed from the body.

Some conditions that can be treated with homotoxicology:

  • Allergic and Auto Immune – Asthma, Hay Fever
  • Cardiovascular – Raised Blood Pressure, Palpitations, High Blood Cholesterol
  • Digestive Complaints – IBS, Chronic Constipation or Diarrhoea, Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticulitis
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Nausea and vomiting
